The National Shoe Travelers (NST) donated $1 million to the Two Ten Footwear Foundation to form a new annual higher education scholarship fund for NST members, their children and grandchildren.
Members of the national footwear sales representatives organization and their family members will be eligible to apply for the scholarship program, which will be managed by Two Ten. Scholarships will be awarded based on both financial needs and merit, allotting up to $5,000 a year for four years of higher education.
The donation is in addition to the $1.5 million endowment fund gift NST made to Two Ten in 2012.
Neil Newman, president of Two Ten Footwear Foundation, said, “Our long-standing strategic partnership with NST has allowed us to better serve their members by providing emergency financial assistance at times of crisis.” He added, “With this additional $1 million dollar gift, we will be able to provide college scholarships.”
NST vice president Mark Pecoraro said, “The NST scholarship will impact our members by allowing them to have access for their children and grandchildren. Our members have given so much to our industry over the years it’s exciting to be able to set this up for generations to come.”
The NST scholarship fund will commence immediately, and the enrollment period will be December 2014 to March 2015. Applications can be sent through the Two Ten scholarship portal and the inaugural ten recipients of scholarship will receive awards for the Fall 2015 academic semester.
