New Balance and San Francisco-based messenger bag shop Timbuk2 have joined forces to bring together tech and style in a series of new products inspired by city cycling.
The collaboration has yielded two backpacks—the Timbuk2 C-Series Backpack and Sling—meant to be paired with New Balance’s C-Series footwear style.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with New Balance on a fresh approach to city cycling,” said Senior Design Director Andrea Chynoweth. “These bags are the ultimate companions for living, working, and cycling in the city, and this partnership is one more way that we can outfit the cycling community with the gear they need to take on urban life.”
The futuristic Timbuk2 x New Balance C-Series Sling, can be worn left or right-handed depending on the rider’s preference, and a highly reflective coting makes it ideal for safe riding at night. Timbuk2 x New Balance C-Series Backpack, meanwhile, featured easy laptop and phone access, external helmet and U-lock storage, and a Tricot-lined stash pocket for sensitive items.
The bags complement New Balance’s C-Series CM600C urban cycling shoes. With a traditional sleek silhouette, reflective laces, and high-density rubber, the sneakers are built to withstand miles of urban commuting.
Both bags are available now through all Timbuk2 stores and online. The C-Series Sling retails for $158 while the C-Series Backpack retails for $198.
