Nike Reveals Expansion Plans for World Headquarters

Nike is expanding its kingdom in Beaverton, Ore. The athletic giant announced Friday plans to add 3.2 million-square-feet of office, mixed-use and parking facilities to its world headquarters.

The new structures, scheduled to be completed in 2018, reinforce the original campus master plan and link to preexisting areas through open green spaces, paths, sports courts and fields. Each building is positioned for future growth. Additionally, the building designs aim for LEED Platinum Certification and will feature natural daylight, passive chilled beams and a closed-looped grey water treatment center.

In a press release, Nike President and CEO Mark Parker, said the expanded world headquarters reflects the best of Nike’s culture and is “a place where we obsess the athlete and invent future products and experiences for consumers everywhere.”

The overall design is inspired by human movement and strength. A beacon serves as a campus center while spanning structures radiating from the tower pay homage to Nike’s namesake, the winged goddess of victory.
