Nike has been implicated in the corruption of FIFA, following further investigations launched after the arrests of seven of the members of the international soccer organization.

In the Justice Department’s indictment, there is a reference to bribery by a U.S. sportswear company to win an apparel licensing deal with Brazil’s national soccer team. The alleged sponsorship deal was signed in 1996, the same year Nike signed their agreement with the Brazilian national team.

According to the Associated Press, Nike said it is cooperating with the probe launched by U.S. authorities. The company did not directly address the accusations, but asserted their opposition to bribery and manipulation.
