Nike Launches BeTrue 2017 for Pride Month

From new denim constructions, weights and washes to the steps global mills are taking to reduce impact, Rivet's SS23 In Season Look Book: Denim & Trims has everything you need to know for a successful denim season.

Nike celebrates the LGTBQ community in June with the BeTrue 2017 collection, offering four sneakers updated for Pride month.

The BeTrue collection includes the first eight-color, HD rainbow Swoosh design on the Nike Flyknit Racer. The collection also features the first rainbow VaporMAx Air unit on the NikeLab Air Vapormax Flyknit. The line also debuts the classic Nike Cortez. Each shoe displays “Run Fierce” on the sock-liners.

The collection launches in the U.S. on June 5 online and in select retailers, and June 1 outside of the U.S.

BeTrue began in 2012 by Nike employees wanting to connect with the LGBTQ community, making styles through NikeiD in celebration of Pride month. Since 2012, Nike has provided around $2.5 million in financial and other support to LGBTQ causes.

“The key for us was to create something that people could unite around to show their support for LGBTQ athletes,” said Robert Gorman, LBGT network leader at Nike. “Sporting your rainbow in the gym or on a run became a way to feel like you belonged to something larger—you were connected to being ‘out’ or being an ally. The rainbow has and always will be incorporated into the BeTrue product in some way.”
