Nike to Add Sixth Building as Part of Global HQ Expansion

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Nike announced Friday plans to expand its world headquarters to include a sixth building for office use and parking.

With work set to begin in mid-2017, the new building, located at Nike’s campus just outside Beaverton, Ore., will include approximately 360,000 square feet of office space and an additional 330,000 square feet for parking.

Nike said designs for the structure will aim for LEED Platinum Certification, furthering its commitment to reach 100 percent renewable energy by 2025 for all of its owned and operated facilities worldwide.

Nike has a ten-year agreement to purchase renewable energy for its Oregon facilities with Avangrid Renewables, which will begin in January 2017. The deal encompasses all current and future world headquarter buildings, as well as Nike’s in-house manufacturing (IHM) facility in Beaverton, and nearly all owned or operated retail stores in Oregon.
