On the Street: Tall Boots

Join us on January 26 at 11 am ET for a webinar with Lenzing, TextileGenesis and sustainable brand ArmedAngels for a discussion on how they’re using Fibercoin technology to realize traceability’s benefits to sustainability, brand loyalty and risk mitigation.

If New York City street fashion is a crystal ball into the future, then expect to see women zipping up (and up, and up) their boots next fall.

During the final days of winter, ladies kept warm with leather boots that grazed their knee and stretch suede boots that slithered yonder — a fashion trend that boot maker Fiorentini & Baker is already seeing pick up in its Mercer Street store. While the demand for ankle boots has yet to subside — the brand has some killer studded and python styles in the works for Fall ’15 — Fiorentini & Baker saw more customers come into the store looking for simple and elegant tall boots this winter.

Classic riding silhouettes fit the bill, but expect to see styles that play with portion. Just as Spring ’15 sandals have been blown up with exaggerated lug soles, look for leg-hugging stretch boots with a heavy platform and chunky heel base, or tapered heel knee boots with a wide shaft that wraps the heel. Flat boots are key too, accented with moto-style quilting, ankle buckles and bold zipper details.

Remember, toned-down heels make these statement-making boots loaded with sexy connotations more wearable — one demand that is still high on the consumer’s wish list.
