Pastel Hues Pick Up Momentum for Spring ’19 Footwear

Pastels. For spring. Groundbreaking.

It’s true. Pastel footwear is on an upward trend for Spring ’19. However, the strong sport-inspired silhouettes that women’s footwear designers are churning out for Spring ’19 evoke a bolder look and feel than the delicate pastel styles of the past.

With nary a strappy sandal or stiletto insight, women’s footwear brands are powering up with sneakers in powdery shades of pink, sky blue and light lilac.

Vionic offers pale mauve across its athleisure line of sneakers and sneaker slides. Dr. Scholl’s plays with pastels in knit, leather and suede. Kendall + Kylie feminizes the “Dad” shoe trend with pale pink, while Cougar takes on the knit sneaker trend with a sock-like upper and whipstitch details.

The calming color palette complements active wear’s and athleisure’s preference for sorbet colors, neutrals and transparency.

And in some ways, pastels double as soft neutrals for Spring ’19. Brands like Soft Comfort, Secret Celebrity and Seychelles pair pale shades of pink and coral with beachy espadrille wedge heels. Pastel blue takes on a bolder look in patent leather, denim-like canvas and tech-y sport sandals.

Done in suede uppers, pastel hues modernize bohemian ’70s silhouettes like platform slides, wedge heels and sandals with a cork bottom.
