Few brands ignite as much passion from shoppers as Louis Vuitton, which was named the most mentioned luxury brand online by NetBase in its annual Brand Passion Report.
For the report, the market research company studied the online mentions of luxury brands through different platforms including social media, customers mentions, blogging and news stories. In total, the study reviewed over 95 million social media mentions globally from September 2013 to August 2014 to determine the top 45 luxury brands.
With the exception of second place Apple, the report showed that European luxury brands are highly favored among online consumers. Chanel, Burberry, Hermes, Gucci, the iPhone, Rolex, LVMH, and Dior rounded out the top 10.
American luxury brand Coach nabbed the No. 15 spot, making it the only American fashion luxury brand to make it in the top 15 ranking. Michael Kors came in at No. 16 and Tiffany stayed at No. 19 for the second year in a row.
Other luxury brands that made the list were Prada at No. 11 and Jimmy Choo at No. 14. For department stores, Saks was ranked at No. 37 and Barney’s ranked No. 44.
