Rihanna’s Attitude-Laden Trainers for Puma Offer Fashion, Function

After making waves last year with her signature Creepers, popstar Rihanna is giving fans a taste of what they saw at NYFW with the release of a new sneaker for Puma.

The Trainer is Rihanna’s stab at an athletic sneaker, with exaggerated proportions and a long tongue that seems a natural fit with the singer’s bad-ass ‘bad gal’ persona. But the shoe isn’t all looks, boasting a number of performance features that set it apart from other celebrity-backed brands, including friend and fellow designer Kanye West’s Yeezy sneakers for Adidas.

Available in three colors – red, white, and black – the Trainer features a full length flex groove for 360-degree movement, while additional heel thickness on medial and lateral sides support fast and dynamic multi-directional movement. The shoe’s upper is constructed from Ariaprene, an advanced form of neoprene for a secure yet breathable fit, and even the shoe’s statement-making tongue is more than just fashion, providing the wearer with extra support.

The Trainer for both men and women is available in-store and online at Puma, as well as at select third-party retailers, for $180.
