Comfort footwear brand Samuel Hubbard has announced a new relationship with W.L. Gore & Associates which will see Gore-Tex technology incorporated into the brand’s new GPS collection.
Launching at retail in November, the GPS collection is the company’s first offering of outdoor shoes and boots designed for use off-road as well as in cold, rainy conditions.
Developed at Samuel Hubbard’s European studio, the shoes feature either Vibram lug soles or the new Davos “Ice Grip” sole, which utilizes a carbon and silica mix that gives the shoes non-skid traction for harsh winter days.
The three styles include the Aspen boot, featuring breathable shearling lining combined with Gore-Tex, the Hubbard Mt. Tam Boot, a light all-leather hiking boot made with Vibram’s “Carrarmato” rubber lug sole, and the popular Founder men’s dress shoe, which has been “winterized” to include the same breathable, waterproof technology from Gore.
Gore-Tex’s brand of durable, waterproof and breathable technology will be incorporated into three of the styles in the GPS collection for men. These styles will launch in November, while women’s shoes featuring Gore-Tex are set to launch in 2017.
“This coveted Gore-Tex license optimizes Samuel Hubbard’s sneaker-like comfort with durable waterproofness and exceptional breathability,” said Bruce Katz, Samuel Hubbard CEO and founder. “The addition of Gore-Tex technology differentiates us from other footwear in the fashion performance category, enabling our customers to feel good about their style without having to worry about the weather. It’s a natural extension of product offerings for our active customers.”
