Who Are the Most-Searched Fashion Designers of 2016?

The line between celebrity and designer is blurring, a trend made apparent in Google’s annual “Year in Search” report, which indexes the most-searched terms worldwide in a variety of categories.

Topping the ranking of most searched fashion designers was Rachel Roy, who surged in searches during April after it was rumored she was the “Becky with the good hair” mentioned in Beyonce’s song “Sorry,” which is allegedly about her husband Jay-Z’s infidelity.

‘Queen Bey’ herself also appeared on the list, coming in at number 6. In addition to releasing her album Lemonade, this year the pop singer also debuted her own line of activewear, Ivy Park.

Other hot names on the list include sister acts Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who ranked 2nd, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who came in fifth. The pair ruled 2016 with various projects, including younger sister Kylie’s Puma collaborations.

Brother-in-law Kanye West also made an appearance on the list in 10th place. The rapper-turned-designer had a banner year with his much-hyped Yeezy collections and his Boost collaborations with Adidas. The German footwear brand announced that it plans to expand West’s role in the company starting in 2017.

Another footwear maven ranking high on the list was Zendaya. The actress and singer, who chatted with VAMP earlier this year, broke onto the footwear scene in 2016 with her first line of footwear, Daya by Zendaya.

Ivanka Trump, meanwhile, proved that not even fashion was immune from the impact of the bitterly-contested 2016 election. The daughter of the President-Elect stirred up intense controversy over her self-titled fashion range, leading women to boycott the brand.
