Deckers Brands announced Wednesday a new venture into sustainability by joining the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
UNGC unites businesses with UN agencies, labor, civil society and governments to advance human rights, labor standards, the environment and fight against corruption across the world.
“Our support for the United Nations Global Compact is a formal commitment of Deckers Brands to conduct our business with the utmost respect for universal principles around human rights, labor standards, responsible environmental practices, and anti-corruption,” said Dave Powers, Deckers Brands president and CEO. “We look forward to this partnership and hope to continue to show our global commitment to being a good corporate citizen.”
Deckers Brands, the parent company of brands like Ugg and Teva, now represents one of the upwards of 9,000 companies supporting the United Nation’s movement.
