The Vamp staff mulled over their most-wanted styles for the holidays. While Nicholas Kirkwood dazzled us with prints and Charlotte Olympia was full of wit, a series of old and new classics——each with their own twist——made it onto the editors’ holiday wish lists.
Wolverine 1000 Mile by Samantha Pleet
Angela Velasquez said, “The only downfall to covering the footwear industry is that by the time a season’s worth of shoes hit the stores, everything feels tired and familiar. Well, almost everything. The Wolverine 1000 Mile by Samantha Pleet Arc boot has been in stores for over a year, but I still swoon at the sight of it. This holiday season, I’m hoping to find a pair under the tree in scrumptious robin egg blue. That beautiful shade of blue will make any gloomy January day bright.”
Adidas Stan Smith
Bodeline Dautruche said, “For various style reasons, I wish I were a boy. The fits are better and the style is clean and cool. Here and there, I do my best to imitate the coolest hipster Williamsburg guy, whether its buying men’s jeans in replace of boyfriends or wearing loose fitted tees. My slight obsession, however, is men’s sneakers. With Adidas Stan Smith, my favorite color [green] is incorporated and it is such a classic that it work in any season and with everything in my closet. My ideal outfit would be black leather pants, some type of white button-down, a light-washed distressed jean jacket, and a long sleeveless shearling vest to top off the look.”
Shara Beitch said, “I have been drawn to combat boots for as long as I can remember, so it might come as a surprise when I say I have never owned a pair of Dr. Martens. The classic 1460 patent lamper makes a statement with its shine, but is simple enough to pair with leggings and a comfy sweater. And once I break these babies in they will be my comfortable, durable and weather proof go-to shoes, making the life of a commuter less painful.”
Dr. Martens (again)
Lainie Lamicella said, “One pair of shoes that are on my holiday wish list is the Dr. Marten 1460 boots. I love the classic, rebellious and chunky look of all Dr. Marten shoes, but the 1460 boots especially. I would love a pair in black because they would match with everything and would fit well into my wardrobe of mostly neutral colors and simple but classic silhouettes. Most of all, a pair of these boots would add an edgy element to my look.”
