Online footwear and apparel retailer Shoes.com is looking towards the future as it announced this week it is testing a new shopping experience on its Canadian website that utilizes artificial intelligence.
Visitors to Shoesme.ca will now get to use Visual Filter, a visual intelligence technology created by San Francisco-based Sentient Technologies. Visual Filter is able to identify and draw connections between hundreds of shoe attributes, creating deep understanding of the individual’s personal style preferences.
Akin to engaging with an in-store personal shopper, the power of images are used to understand what appeals to the shopper, including complex combinations of boot style, material, detail, heel height, color and more, instantly offering a dynamically curated selection that meet the shopper’s criteria. These highly personalized choices can then be selected for purchase or saved for later.
“At Shoes.com we strive to be an innovative force focused on empowering people to discover products and brands they love,” said Roger Hardy, CEO and Co-Founder of Shoes.com. “Visual Filter does just this – it places the customer in control of the endless aisle by making the connection between the customer’s taste and the aesthetic of the shoe they’re looking for, all in real-time. We’re starting the experience with women’s boots and envision expanding it across our platform in the near future.”
