The Look @ GDS: Tropical Punch

When it comes to sustainability, there is no way forward without a plan. Attend our in-person “Sustainability Summit: Road to 2030” June 1 in NYC. Learn from the industry’s best and brightest, and network to create those necessary partnerships!

Every spring/summer season needs a taste of the tropics—and we favor the adventurous and slightly wild vision brands are presenting for Spring ’17.

From palm fronds on inky black backgrounds to deconstructed and oversized tribal prints, brands at GDS, held last month in Düsseldorf, Germany, spiced up the season’s otherwise sedate mix of neutrals, simple sneakers and mules, with straight up vacation footwear.

While some women’s brands turned to green snake prints, or fully embraced slinky, lace-up sandal silhouettes to tell their island story, others added tropical touches to casual slip-ons. Printed calf hair, rope and painted cork added some summery zest to collections.

Meanwhile, men’s brands embraced the trend head-on with all-over tropical foliage and tribal prints.
