Laces are not just for tripping over anymore.
Women’s footwear brands are incorporating ankle ties as an essential element to their designs for Spring ’17, gracing everything from comfortable footbed sandals and espadrilles to sky-high party shoes.
And there isn’t one way to tie the knot.
While some brands like Pikolinos and Vionic employ leather and suede wrapped laces, others are adding a flourish or two with tassels and ribbon. Papillio dresses up wedge sandals with silver, black and lavender satin ribbons. Marion Parke combines laces with mesh spectator heels. Meanwhile, Bernardo uses bold yellow drawstring cord on a retro platform sandal.
