Under Armour to Open Massive Distribution Center Outside Baltimore

Under Armour announced a major investment in its e-commerce business. On Tuesday, the sportswear company revealed plans on to open a 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center in Sparrows Point located outside of Baltimore, Md.

The center, which will roughly be the size of Yankee Stadium, will anchor the Tradepoint Atlantic redevelopment project. The state-of-the-art facility is projected to employ 1,000 people in the Baltimore area after its completion in the summer of 2018.

“Under Armour is a true Maryland success story, and this new e-commerce center is another way they are showing their commitment to our state and to the Baltimore region,” said Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.

The facility will be Under Armour’s second distribution center surrounding the company’s headquarters in Baltimore and its fourth distribution facility in the United States. The company’s three other distribution centers located in Curtis Bay, Md., Rialto, Calif. and Mount Juliet, Tenn. will continue to operate.
