Plaid pants emerged as a dress-it-up-or-dress-it-down men’s style essential for the sartorially adventurous set. Pinterest said searches for men’s plaid pants were up 267 percent in 2018.
Light is the new dark, at least in denim. Searches for ’90s-style light wash denim were up 70 percent last year, Pinterest reported.
Where’s the flood? Cropped bottoms caught on in men’s wear, with searches for the style up 671 percent, according to Pinterest.
Heading to the BBC Radio 1 studios in London in November, Jeff Goldblum peacocks in one of the hottest trends in men’s style: corduroy. Men conducted 507 percent more Pinterest searches for corduroy in 2018 than in the year prior, the visually-driven social media company said.
Interest in accessories is growing as men realize how an extra touch can pull together an ensemble. Pinterest reported 29 percent greater searches for scarves compared with 2017.
Whether they’re inspired by hot runway looks or fresh street style, men seem to be getting into the print mixing swing of things, rocking loud patterns that leave matchy-matchy in the rearview mirror.

Call it the sling bag, but whatever you call it, the fanny pack is back, for women and for men. Pinterest says sling-bag searches leaped a whopping 1,184 percent in 2018, no doubt inspired in part by the bag’s popularity on the catwalk and in the street-style scene.
Watches with an old-timey look are trending among men, according to Pinterest, which found searches for vintage timepieces up 98 percent across 2018.
Expect to see more ankle-exposing quarter socks outfitting men’s feet in the year ahead. Searches for the style were up 266 percent year on year, Pinterest said.
