Bedding maker Gingerlily taps designer Richard Smith of Madeaux Home for its latest collection. The Gingerlily x Madeaux Home collection includes duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases, throw pillows and silk rattan eye masks in two designs—botanical Tangleweed and graphic Rattan, available in soft blue or coral pink.
Smith’s fabric and wallpaper designs made for an ideal application to Gingerlily’s bedding.
“I’ve been following Richard’s work for quite some time and have always admired his timeless yet whimsical fabric and wallpaper designs,” said Deborah Fiddy, founder, Gingerlily. “I thought the spirit of his designs – particularly the botanical ‘Tangleweed’ and graphic ‘Rattan’ motifs – would translate beautifully onto the luxurious materiality of silk.”
Ranging in price from $70 for a pillowcase to $1,000 for a silk duvet cover, the bedding collection will be available this month.
Designer collaborations can be big business for brands, and bedding makers have tapped into that potential. Most recently, Beautyrest recently launched a mattress, pillow and mattress cover line created by designer Nate Berkus. Fiddy said she sees Gingerlily collaborating with other designers going forward, and she hopes this collection helps introduce new customers to the brand.
“Working with designers like Richard Smith, who are creative thinkers and experts in their disciplines, is key as it gives us the opportunity to deliver inspired products and designs outside of our signature collections and ultimately reach new audiences,” Fiddy said.
