Adidas x Stella McCartney released two new capsules of sustainable performance apparel, including footwear featuring the shoe brand’s most sustainable upper ever.
The collections in the Spring/Summer 2020 drop draw their inspiration from elements of Stella McCartney’s life along with iconic and recognizable training looks.
Club Collective is defined by performance and training essentials reminiscent of the London club scene of McCartney’s youth, supported by the latest performance innovations from Adidas.
“The Adidas by Stella McCartney collaboration began 15 years ago and has stayed true to delivering the best in performance wear through a fashion lens,” McCartney said in a statement. “This season celebrates my favorite classic training looks with updated design touches for the next generation.”
The capsule includes a woven all-in-one jumpsuit composed of shiny, “ultra-lightweight” 100 percent recycled polyester designed to produce an exaggerated silhouette. Rounding out the outerwear is a water-repellent oversized printed parka made with recycled polyester.
Adidas’ Ultraboost 20 sneaker offers an updated silhouette and the German label’s “most sustainable upper to date,” Adidas said, made with Primeblue ocean plastic. The most recent Adidas x Stella McCartney Ultraboost will also feature mainstays like Primeknit and “more Boost than ever before.”

The Boxfit capsule, on the other hand, takes all of its inspiration from classic boxing essentials, informing the boxing shoes made with lightweight padding and rubber outsoles for quick, stable footwork. Suede overlays add extra support for the high-top training shoes.
The capsule also includes Adizero training shorts and organic cotton track pants with a flared leg meant as a reference to McCartney’s previous solo work.
“The collection also pays homage to the first-ever Adidas by Stella McCartney collection, with updated hero prints, silhouettes and colorways from collection’s past,” McCartney added.
Sustainability is always paramount to McCartney’s work, and her collaboration with Adidas is no exception. In 2018, the designer collaborated with Adidas on an activewear collection that was also heralded as the most sustainable of its time. In April, McCartney and Adidas returned with the AlphaEdge 4D, a cruelty-free sock-knit sneaker with a 3D printed midsole.
On Jan. 15, both stellamccartney.com and adidas.com launched select pieces from the capsules, with the remainder rolling out later in the season.
