New York, Aug. 21 2019 — Sourcing Journal is announcing its latest inductees into Sustaining Voices, its yearlong web series honoring the latest innovations, products, companies and initiatives driving forward a greener apparel industry. The factory honorees join the raw materials, brands and retailers, and supply chain and logistics organizations that have been announced throughout the year.
“The factories honored as Sustaining Voices recipients represent the variety of ways fashion can mitigate its negative impact on the planet. By limiting resource usage, minimizing emissions and increasing the upcycling of waste, these production facilities are pioneering a more responsible future for the entire industry,” said Edward Hertzman, founder and president of Sourcing Journal, the premier online trade publication for apparel and textile executives.
The honorees in the factory category are:
- CleanDye, for establishing the world’s first water- and process-chemical-free dyeing facility in Vietnam
- Eco Spindles, for building a first-of-its-kind PET-recycling plant in Sri Lanka
- Hirdaramani Group, for achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its apparel vertical
- The Renewal Workshop, for keeping lightly damaged garments out of the landfill
- Vertical Knits, for dramatically reducing freshwater use during cotton dyeing
In October, Sustaining Voices will recognize the efforts leading initiatives are making to foster change within the apparel industry.
Sustaining Voices, which was created in collaboration with Cotton Incorporated, recognizes organizations and individuals based their “wow” factors, uniqueness, scalability, buzz and impact on sustainability. Each honoree was selected by Sourcing Journal in consultation with a select group of apparel industry experts.
