Bangladesh To Get Trade Perks From China

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the UN headquarters last Tuesday to discuss trade relations between the two nations.

Bangladesh’s The Daily Star reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China will increase duty-free access for Bangladeshi items up to 95 percent to help boost trade relations between the countries and reduce the trade gap.

Both leaders noted that their partnership has been positive thus far and Hasina expressed gratitude for China’s continued support in helping Bangladesh’s economic and social development.

The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh issued a statement summarizing the meeting saying that, “China is ready to work with Bangladesh to keep close high-level exchanges, to deepen practical cooperation, to accelerate the construction of China-India-Myanmar-Bangladesh corridor and other major projects, so as to push for unceasing new progress of bilateral relations.”
