The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), a trade association representing the country’s readymade-garment industry, announced leadership changes on Wednesday.
Siddiqur Rahman, managing director of Sterling Denims, has been elected president of BGMEA for a two-year term, effective September 22.
He will be joined by Moinuddin Ahmed, managing director of M.N. Knitwears, as first vice-president, while Faruque Hassan, managing director of Giant Apparels, will serve as senior vice-president.
A further five vice-presidents were also selected: SM Mannan Kochi of Seha Design; Evergreen Sweaters’ Mohammed Nasir; managing director of Rising Apparels, Mahmud Hasan Khan; Ferdous Perves Bivon of Bando Fashions; and Farmin Fashion Design’s Md. Ferdous.
