Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BKMEA) has assembled a Global Buyers Information Directory, a 1,000-page book with 20,000 buyers listed from 160 countries, in an effort to expand new markets for readymade garment (RMG) exporters of Bangladesh.
The compilation took two years and contains tariff and non-tariff structures, economic purview, air and sea route cost, international pricing comparison, among other information.
BKMEA said in a statement, “This is a unique work as no such volume of business directory has ever been produced in Bangladesh, nor could it be found in the international arena.” The book has been copyrighted in the name of BKMEA, making duplication prohibited.
The directory is primarily aimed at helping knitwear, woven, sweater and other clothing related entrepreneurs to look for new markets that have potential in business expansion, which has been neglected in the past due to a lack of information, data and other business matters.
A.K.M Salim Osman, BKMEA president, said that this ‘Global Buyers Information Directory’ will notably strengthen the Bangladesh RMG sector and within the next two to three years after the publication of the book, the export volume will be tripled if the information can be used effectively by the entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
