Flame resistant fabric manufacturer Westex by Milliken announced Tuesday that it will partner with leading denim producer Cone Denim to produce flame resistant denim apparel fabrics to merge fashion with protection for workwear.
According to Westex, denim is often the fabric of choice for workers who labor outdoors, and the need for a flame resistant denim that could provide the same comfort and style as everyday denim wasn’t being met. The new product will also feature reduced shrinkage and a soft hand. Westex said the expanded offering will provide wearers a stylish—and safe—selection with multiple options for color and performance.
“Cone Denim has a strong reputation of quality and innovation as a long-standing denim brand,” Mike Enright, vice president for Westex by Milliken said. “Similarly, Milliken and Westex by Milliken have a strong heritage of innovation providing industry-leading, customer-centric solutions. Our partnership with Cone Denim allows us to create a superior line of flame resistant denim fabric.”
Steve Maggard, vice president product development at Cone 3D, said, “Cone Denim fabrics are known for both style and performance and a move into technical denims is the next logical step in our product evolution.”
