Cotton Prices Soften in May

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Cotton prices dropped by three and a half cents per pound in May, ending the month at their lowest level since February.

The 7-market average U.S. spot price rose from $.793 to $.757 in the five-week period from April 26 to May 31. Year-over-year, prices were 9% lower.
