Coterie

Coterie, the twice-yearly trade show for contemporary women’s threads and accessories, wants to connect influential names with a curated selection of suppliers.

UBM Fashion Group, producer of such industry events as Magic Marketplace and Project, on Wednesday announced that Sourcing@Coterie will launch this September at the Javits Center in New York, showcasing a handpicked collection of fabric mills as well as apparel, accessory and footwear factories. A maximum of 100 exhibitors will participate in the event (Sept. 18-20), set to take place once a year during Coterie.

“Our brands there have been asking for this and now they will be able to walk over and meet with some of the best factories in the world, all under one roof at Javits,” Christopher Griffin, president of Sourcing@Coterie, explained.

Sourcing executives from the East Coast and Midwest often look to New York-based shows when researching international and homegrown resources that specialize in lower minimums and higher quality production. To that end, Sourcing@Coterie will feature a selection of factories from the U.S., Japan, Europe and South America that will appeal to Coterie brands. To make it to the show floor, factories must undergo a thorough application process in which they are evaluated based on certifications, current customers and industry awards.

“We understand that executives are time-starved, so now those from out of town can make the best of one trip to New York City,” said Edward Hertzman, founder and publisher of Sourcing Journal, which moved its annual summit from October to September in support of the new show. The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) will provide shuttle service to all attendees.

Hertzman added, “Not only will they gain insight from the industry’s top thought leaders at our Sourcing Summit, they’ll then have the option to meet and discover new factory and mill partners at Sourcing@Coterie the same week. The trade needs to think more about the needs of the industry, and providing value by collaborating is one way to do that.”

Other Sourcing@Coterie partners include Manufacture New York and Designers Guild Expo. For additional information or to apply, visit enkshows.com.
