Gap Inc. has named Sonia Syngal the new leader of the company’s Global Supply Chain division.

Syngal was promoted to the post from her previous role as head of Old Navy’s International division and will succeed Colin Funnell who will retire from the company early next year.

In a company announcement in early November, Glenn Murphy, chairman and chief executive officer of Gap Inc. said, “Sonia brings a strong blend of brand and supply chain strategy, along with hands-on management experience across all aspects of sourcing, logistics and production.”

Syngal has been with Gap Inc. since 2004 and has worked as vice president of corporate sourcing and global product and supply chain, providing product and sourcing strategies for Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy and leading Old Navy’s successful expansion into Japan.

Before her work at Gap, Syngal led manufacturing operations, logistics and supply chain management at Sun Microsystems.
