Shuffle Board: Macy’s Names Outler Chief Diversity Officer, ASOS Appoints Dunn as CFO



Macy’s Inc. named Shawn Outler as executive vice president and chief diversity officer, effective Oct. 29.

Outler was previously executive vice president of Licensed Businesses, Food Services and Multicultural Initiatives at Macy’s.

Macy’s said Outler’s appointment advances its ongoing commitment to making it a company that reflects the diversity of its customers, its colleagues and the communities it serves. In her new role, Outler will be the primary diversity and inclusion representative for the company and will serve as co-chair of the cross-functional Diversity & Inclusion Business Council, a group of leaders from throughout the organization who work to ensure D&I work is fully integrated into the business.

Outler began her career with Macy’s in 2006 as the divisional vice president and merchandise manager of better traditional sportswear at Macy’s Central Division in Atlanta and has held multiple roles of increased responsibility since that time.


Online fashion marketplace Asos appointed Mathew Dunn as chief financial officer and a member of its board of directors. Dunn will take up his roles in the spring, with an exact date to be announced later.

Dunn has held a variety of senior management positions, including at SABMiller and most recently as chief financial officer of Britvic.

Asos, a global fashion destination for 20-somethings, sells more than 87,000 branded and Asos brand products through a localized app and mobile/desktop experiences, delivering from fulfillment centers in the U.K., U.S. and Europe.


Columbia Sportswear

The board of directors of Columbia Sportswear Co. elected Sabrina Simmons to serve as a director and member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance and Compensation Committees. The board intends to nominate Simmons for election by the company’s shareholders to a full term as a board member at the company’s 2019 annual meeting of shareholders.

Simmons currently serves as a member of the board and Audit and Finance Committee chair for Williams-Sonoma Inc. and is a member of the board and Audit Committee chair for E.L.F. Cosmetics Inc. Simmons served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Gap Inc. from 2008 to 2017.
