The recent increase in demand for “Made in the USA” apparel–who can forget the scandal when Mitt Romney’s campaign hats appeared to have been made in China?—has led to plans for a searchable database of clothing and textile manufacturers that are based in the US. The database isn’t for consumers (although they’re welcome to have a look) but intended to assist apparel and
footwear companies in their quest to source domestically.
The database will be hosted online at the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) website. Check it out here.
