Body-measuring app MySizeID has landed in Istanbul in time for fashion week, with a goal of showing the industry there how customers benefit from using its technology to improve their shopping experience.
Israeli parent company My Size Inc. partnered with Turkish designer Niyazi Erdogan in a demonstration during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul, which runs from Oct. 8-11.
Istanbul’s fashion week attracts about 5,000 daily visitors, bringing together 41 of Turkey’s most influential designers. Promising red carpet celebrities, media exposure and access to important retailers, Istanbul’s fashion week will give the Israeli tech company a chance to rub elbows with the region’s fashion elite.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Niyazi Erdogan at such an iconic event for fashion in Turkey,” Ronen Luzon, CEO of My Size Inc., said. “Our innovative solution enables customers to have a much more seamless shopping experience and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul is the perfect occasion to position our solution next to some of the biggest names in fashion.”
The company said that it would be joining Erdogan in showing a video demonstrating how brands and retailers can use MySizeID to begin “perfecting the shopping experience.”
“MySize was founded as an answer to fashion consumers who grew frustrated with the common troubles of in-store and online shopping—from size uncertainty to the hassle of returning items that just didn’t fit,” the brand said. “The company rolled out MySizeID to cater to these woes.”
My Size’s partnership with Erdogan will also give it direct access to a veteran designer in the region. Erdogan has worked in the Turkish fashion industry since 2003 and is the eponymous designer of his own men’s wear brand, Niyazi Erdogan, in addition to founding the Nesign Design Factory.
For Erdogan, the partnership is an opportunity to pair with a fashion tech company to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his brand.
“I am honored to collaborate with MySizeID on my 10th-year anniversary,” Erdogan explained. “While the collections I presented at fashion weeks until this season mirrored the development of my identity as a fashion designer, they also reflected professionalization of fashion design process in Turkey. The designs I brought together at Istanbul Moda Academy (İMA) define a certain field in men’s clothing design with substantial fit and form, especially with these form-fitting designs, MySizeID’s measurement technology will support the consumers.”
MySizeID allows consumers to capture their measurements with a smartphone app and, when partnered with a brand or retailer, the app can send that info directly to a given retail platform. In December 2018, the company also opened its own online store to demonstrate the capabilities of its technology suite.
