INVISTA and E3 join Kingpins Amsterdam as show sponsors. The Kingpins team is working closely with Amsterdam’s best denim experts and industry insiders to develop its first-ever European show.
NEW YORK (September 25, 2013) When Kingpins Amsterdam kicks off on May 7, 2014, it will be a true reflection of the international denim market – with a distinctly Amsterdam twist. This will be due in no small part to the support of our sponsors — Invista, owners of the LYCRA® brand, and E3, the new sustainable cotton program from Bayer CropScience — as well as the guidance of some of Amsterdam’s top denim and fashion kingpins.
INVISTA is a longtime sponsor of Kingpins events including the shows in New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. According to Jean Hegedus, Global Denim Director for INVISTA, the company looks forward to helping bring the same level of innovation and excitement to Amsterdam that have characterized the previous Kingpins shows. “We’re pleased to extend our sponsorship of this innovative denim event in a city that so clearly embraces everything denim,” Hegedus said.
Bayer CropScience works closely with Kingpins’ parent company, Olah Inc., and also sponsors Kingpins New York and Kingpins Hong Kong. “We are excited to introduce our new, certified sustainably grown American cotton to the European market, which has a long history of environmental awareness and stewardship,” said Bayer’s Brent Crossland.
“We are fortunate to have the support of our sponsors and to be able to draw on the vast and specialized knowledge of our Amsterdam-based advisors to make this show a true reflection of the denim industry and of that special spirit that is making Amsterdam the center of the European denim world,” said Kingpins founder Andrew Olah. “We couldn’t have hoped for better sponsors, advisors and advocates.”
Mariette Hoitink, Owner / Founder / Managing Director HTNK, Amsterdam’s top fashion recruitment and consultancy firm, and Chairwoman of House of Denim; James Veenhoff, Initiator / Founder of House of Denim, a foundation that aims to stimulate innovation and craftsmanship in the denim industry, have agreed to help Kingpins Amsterdam best serve the booming European denim market.
“Aided by the local denim boom of the last 15 years, HTNK has grown – seemingly by chance – into the only recruitment agency in Europe to specialize in denim. Kingpins functions at the heart as well as at the starting point of the industry, bringing together mills, manufacturers, designers and developers,” said Hoitink. “Kingpins in Amsterdam will be a meeting of kindred spirits, bringing together sound business practice and momentum to together take a lead to address the challenges of the industry and work ‘towards a brighter blue.’ We welcome Andrew Olah and Kingpins with open arms.”
“Having Kingpins come to Amsterdam confirms what we already know to be true: there is truly something special going on between the city and the denim industry.” said Veenhoff. “We are looking forward to connecting with industry people from all around the world. Like Kingpins, Amsterdam is a great place to connect, share and inspire.”
“Kingpins will be a great addition to all the ‘blue’ developments in the denim industry happening right now in Amsterdam,” said Lucel van den Hoeven, founder and chief executive of Modefabriek, the leading fashion trade show in the Benelux region. “From fabric to garment, together with Modefabriek, Amsterdam will offer the industry a complementary and smashing set of unique trade shows turning the city even more vibrantly blue.”
Kingpins Amsterdam will launch May 7/8, 2014 at Westergasfabriek Amsterdam’s Gashouder venue with a denim supply chain show focusing on the best denim mills in Europe, Japan and the rest of the globe as well as other supply chain partners. A list of exhibitors will be available this fall.
