
Sears Canada announced Monday that its Board of Directors has appointed Ronald D. Boire as president and chief executive officer. Boire has been the company’s acting president and CEO since Oct. 14, 2014.
William C. Crowley, chairman of the board for Sears Canada, Inc., explained, “The Board of Directors believes Ron has the capabilities, experience and leadership that Sears Canada needs at this time.” He continued, “He is assembling a team, developing an approach, and instilling a culture that is necessary to improve the business.”
Before joining Sears Canada, Boire served as executive vice president, chief merchandising officer and president of Sears Full Line Stores and Kmart Format of Sears Holdings Corporation in Hoffman Estates, Ill. He has MBAs from both the Columbia Business School and the London Business school.
Boire was president and CEO of Brookstone from October 2009 until he joined Sears Holdings in January, 2012. Preceding these positions, he joined Toys “R” Us in 2006 and was named president for North America. Between 2003 and 2006, Boire worked as Best Buy’s executive vice president, global merchandise manager. Before that he spent 17 years at Sony Electronics, holding a variety of senior positions.
