Shuffle Board: Adidas Changes Up Executive Fleet, Ralph Lauren Creates Two New Exec Roles

Adidas

Adidas recently changed its executive fleet. Arthur Hoeld was appointed as SVP of global brand strategy and business development and Torben Schumacher will succeed him as general manager. Hoeld joined Adidas in 1998 and has worked in the company’s global marketing communication department and the sport style division. In 2011, Hoeld was promoted to SVP of Adidas Originals and from 2014 to 2017, he served as the general manager of Adidas Originals. Schumacher also joined Adidas in 2004 and has held various leaderships in the company, most recently as the VP of product marketing for Adidas Originals Footwear and Kids.

Tom Ford

Tom Ford promoted Brian Blake as its new president and COO of Tom Ford International. In addition to his new role, Blake will also assume the responsibilities of former EVP and COO Tom Mendenhall, who recently left Tom Ford to pursue other career opportunities. Blake recently served as Tom Ford’s CEO of distribution of manufacturing. With over 40 years of experience in the fashion industry, Blake also held other leadership roles at Burberry and Gucci Worldwide.

VF Corporation

International Paper SVP and CFO Carol L. Roberts and The Clorox Company CEO Benno Dorer were elected to VF Corporation’s board of directors this week. Roberts will serve on the Finance and Audit Committees, meanwhile Dorer will serve on the Audit, Nominating and Governance Committees of the board.

Maersk

Chairman Michael Pram Rasmussen will step down from A.P. Møller – Maersk A/S board of directors at the annual general meeting on March 28, 2017. The Board intends to elect Jim Hagemann Snabe to succeed Rasmussen. Maersk has proposed for board of directors member elections at the annual general meeting, including Dorothee Blessing, Niels Bjørn Christiansen, Niels Jacobsen and Arne Karlsson.

Naked Brand Group

Naked Brand Group appointed Edward Hanson to its board of directors. Since 2009, Hanson has served as principal at Global Partners Fund. Hanson also holds other leadership roles, including a member of Nasdaq-listed Long Island Iced Tea Corp board of directors and director of London-based companies Corviglia Capital Limited and Haka Capital Limited.

VF Corporation appointed Roger Spatz as Reef’s new brand president. In addition to his new role, Spatz will continue to serve as the president of VF’s Eagle Creek brand, a position he has held for the past six years. Spatz joined VF in 2002 and has held several leaderships roles at the company, including CFO of Reef and the VF outlet business.

Caleres

Caleres named two new executives for its Famous Footwear division. Karlyn Mattson was appointed as Famous Footwear’s chief merchandising officer and Chris Cavalline was hired as Famous Footwear’s SVP of e-commerce. Mattson recently served as Target’s VP merchandise manager of shoes, accessories and intimate apparel. Cavalline joins Caleres from Vitacost.com, where he served as the company’s chief merchandising officer.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren announced two new executive roles this week. Jonathan Bottomley was appointed as Ralph Lauren’s chief marketing officer and Tom Mendenhall was named as brand president of men’s Polo, Purple Label and Double RL. Bottomley recently served as Vice Media’s chief strategy officer. Mendenhall joins Ralph Lauren from Tom Ford International, where he served as the company’s COO for over 10 years.

La Rinascente

Alberto Baldan resigned as CEO of La Rinascente. He will be succeeded by La Rinascente’s sales director Peirluigi Cocchini. Baldan will remain in his position until the end of June to oversee the 100th anniversary celebration of the company.
