Steve Woodside, SVP of global sourcing and manufacturing, is resigning from his post. Woodside joined Columbia Sportswear in 2014 as VP of global manufacturing and served as SVP of global sourcing and manufacturing since May 2015. Columbia Sportswear is currently conducting a search for Woodside’s replacement.
Lectra named Rodrigo Siza as its new regional director of Portugal and Spain. In his new role, Siza will oversee the development of new regional synergies for local fashion businesses. His resume also includes previous stints at Tradetex, V-Sistemas Informatica, Lectra Portugal and RPB Têxteis e Vestuario.
Brand Lab, a U.K.-based online fashion wholesale platform, tapped former fashion executive, Amanda Osborne, to helm its global international business development team. Osborne joins Brand Lab from Burberry, where she served as the head of U.K. sales.
Biagiotti Group hired Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna as its new CEO and president. Biagiotti Cigna takes the reins from her mother, Laura Biagiotti, who passed away in May. In her new role, she will continue to grow the label’s international footprint.
The company’s board also elected fashion house veteran Michele Norsa as its vice president. Norsa joins Biagiotti Group from Salvatore Ferragamo, where he recently served as the label’s CEO. His resume includes previous stints at Valentino SpA and M Missoni.
Mike Fisher was appointed as Etsy’s new chief technology officer. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Fisher will be critical for Etsy’s technology strategy and scaling its IT systems and infrastructure. Fisher recently served as the co-founder and managing partner of consulting firm AKF Partners. He has also held other leadership roles at Quigo and PayPal.
Former Net-A-Porter executive Sarah Rutson was tapped as Dutch LLC’s new chief brand officer. In her new role, Rutson will manage the growth of the company’s current brands, including Current/Elliott, Equipment and Joie, and strengthening relationships with partners.
Heather Shimokawa was appointed as Bloomingdale’s new VP and ready-to-wear fashion director. Shimokawa joins Bloomingdale’s from Bally, where she served as the company’s VP of PR and communications. Shimokawa’s resume also includes editorial stints at Men’s Journal, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone.
Celebrity stylist Jamie Mizrahi was hired as Juicy Couture’s new creative director. Mizrahi, who’s clientele includes Katy Perry and Nicole Richie, began consulting for Juicy Couture in 2016 and her first collection will debut for Spring 2018.
James Graham, former Mothercare retail operations director, was tapped by Arcadia Group to be Outfit’s new managing director, effective Aug. 14. Before his tenure at Mothercare, Graham served as the retail operations director at Specsavers. His resume also includes previous leadership roles at Asda and Tesco.
After 30 years of service, Next marketing director Christine Gerrard is resigning from her post. Gerrard joined Next as a buyer in 1987 and also held other leadership roles throughout her tenure, including head of public relations. Next is conducting a search for Gerrard’s replacement.
Ascena Retail Group
Ascena Retail Group announced major executive changes this week as part of its top-line growth plan.
Gary Muto was appointed as the CEO and president of Ascena Brands, where he will oversee the expansion of Ascena’s full brand portfolio and provide strategic direction for the company’s Plus, Value and Kids Fashion segments.
Brian Lynch was promoted to the role of chief operating officer and president of Ascena Retail Group. He will continue to be responsible for the company’s infrastructure and operations, while delivering top-tier enterprise capabilities at the supply chain and product sourcing levels.
Thinx hired Maria Molland Selby as its new CEO, effective July 31. In her new role, Selby will oversee the company’s global presence and build its omnichannel strategy. Her resume includes previous stints at Thomson Reuters and the Walt Disney Internet Group.
Rebecca Martinez was appointed as Burberry’s new VP of PR, events and entertainment relations. Martinez joined Burberry in 2005 and held several senior PR roles in Hong Kong, London and Shanghai. Recently, she helmed Burberry’s communication teams during the launch of Makers House in London and the label’s February and September runway collections. She will report to Burberry CMO Sarah Manley.
Unifi changed up its executive fleet this week.
Richard E. Gerstein was named as EVP of global branded Premium Value Added (PVA) products and CMO, effective Aug. 14. With 30 years of P&L and marketing experience, Gerstein has held several leadership roles at companies including Alberto Culver, Procter & Gamble and Sears Holdings. Gerstein currently serves as an advisory board member of Motista.
John Vegas was appointed as Unifi’s new EVP and global chief human resources office, effective Aug. 21. Vegas brings more than 20 years of experience as well and held several executive roles at the retail operations level. Vegas currently serves on the Board of Trustees for The Nature Conservancy of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Mark McNeill was also promoted to the role of global innovation EVP.
DFS, a Hong Kong-based luxury retailer catering to travelers, tapped former Hudson’s Bay executive Nelson Mui as its new VP of global fashion merchandising and trends. Mui previously served as the VP and men’s fashion director of Hudson’s Bay and left the company in March following executive layoffs.
Walmart India named Devendra Chawla as its new EVP and chief operating officer. Chawla joins Walmart India from Future Consumer Limited (FCL), where he served as the company’s CEO.
