
Uniqlo
Uniqlo founder and Fast Retailing president Tadashi Yanai is stepping down from his post. Yanai will continue to serve as chairman of Fast Retailing and advise the company. A successor has not been confirmed yet by Fast Retailing.
Saks Fifth Avenue
Saks Fifth Avenue appointed Lydia Seifert as the new VP, general manager of Saks Calgary at the Chinook Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Seifert, who joins Saks with nearly 20 years of retail experience under her belt, will manage the launch and daily operations of the new Saks store, which is slated to open on Feb. 22.
Unifi
Unifi announced two key executive changes this week.
Kevin D. Hall was elected as chairman of Unifi’s board of directors. Hall will also continue to serve as CEO, a position he has held since May. With more than 30 years of brand development experience, Hall has led Unifi’s domestic and global sales growth, with a core focus on expanding the company’s recycled PET material platform, Repreve.
Unifi also elected Archibald Cox, Jr. as lead independent director. Since 2008, he has served as an independent director of the company and previously served as the chairman of Barclays Americas from May 2008 to June 2011.
Burberry
After 17 years of service, Christopher Bailey, chief creative officer and president of Burberry, will step down from the brand on March 31. Bailey is still designing the Spring/Summer 2018 collection and will exit the business in December following a transition period. Burberry began its search for Bailey’s replacement this week, although several analysts have said industry leaders, including Céline’s Phoebe Philo, are potentially being considered for the role.
Cherokee Global Brands
Cherokee Global Brands named Mark Conway as its new chief brand and revenue officer. In his new role, Conway will manage new business development, strategic brand planning and oversight of Cherokee Global Brand’s licensee partnerships globally. Conway brings more than 20 years of retail experience, most recently serving as head of international at Canadian Tire. His resume includes previous stints at Primark, Sears and Walmart Canada.
Missguided
Missguided tapped former shop direct executive Jonathan Wall as its new chief digital officer. In his new role, Wall will oversee Missguided’s e-commerce initiatives. Wall joins Missguided after a seven-year stint at Shop Direct, where he served at the company’s e-commerce director.
Dollar General
Dollar General hired Rob Scruggs as its new chief digital and customer engagement officer. Scruggs brings more than 17 years of experience, most recently serving as global director of client experience for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. His resume includes previous stints at Asurion, E*TRADE and J.P. Morgan Chase.
Intersport
Katja Erbe was hired as the general manager of Europe for The Athlete’s Foot, which was bought by Intersport group in 2012. In her new role, Erbe will work with the national master franchisers to expand the sneaker retailer’s global footprint. Erbe joins Intersport from Adidas, where she recently served as the sales director for central and eastern Europe.
Mytheresa.com
German-based luxury retailer Mytheresa.com appointed Richard Johnson as its new chief commercial officer. Johnson joins Mytheresa.com from Matches Fashion, where he served as the company’s commercial director since 2015. His resume includes previous stints at AI Tayer Group and Harvey Nichols.
Tiffany Hsu, Mytheresa.com’s buying manager, was also promoted to the role of fashion buying director and will report to Johnson.
G-Star Raw
Patrick Kraaijeveld and Rob Schilder are no longer the co-CEOs of G-Star Raw. Rob Schilder will take on the role as sole CEO, while Kraaijeveld is leaving the company to pursue other career opportunities.
