Shuffle Board: Timberland Taps Footwear Veteran as VP, Dick’s Sporting Goods Changes Up Execs

The Bon-Ton Stores changed its management this week.

CEO and president Kathryn Bufano has resigned from the company, effective Aug. 25. COO William Tracy, will be appointed as CEO and president, effective Aug. 25. Bufano will remain with the company as CEO through a transition period to ensure an effective leadership transition.

The company also appointed Chad Stauffer EVP, chief merchandising officer. In his new role, Stauffer will oversee Bon-Ton’s merchandising strategy. Stauffer has spent over nine years at the company and recently served as SVP and general merchandise manager of Center Core and Children’s. His resume includes previous stints at Belk and Sports Authority.

LK Bennett

Linda Bennett, LK Bennett’s founder, is back in the driver’s seat. Dubbed the “kitten heel queen,” Bennett is returning to help the struggling retailer get back on its feet. Bennett will serve as a consultant to the design team and oversee new product initiatives.

JoJo Maman Bébé

Jaeger trading director Gwynn Milligan was tapped as JoJo Maman Bébé’s new commercial director. In her new role, Milligan aims to elevate the company’s financial outlook and market presence. Milligan has held previous leadership roles at Asos and JD Sports.


Adidas AG’s Supervisory Board appointed Gil Steyaert as an Executive Board member, effective May 12. Steyaert will succeed current board member Glenn Bennett, who oversees global operations, no later than Oct. 1. Bennett will relinquish his Executive Board mandate no later than Sept. 30.


Allan Nielsen, Bestseller’s regional director in North America, Australia, Ireland and the U.K., is exiting the company to join German sportswear label Hummel as a director. In his new role, Nielsen will oversee Hummel’s market strategy. Nielsen worked at Bestseller for 15 years and held many leadership roles at the company, including U.K. and Ireland country director and Jack & Jones manager. Henrik Bjørn Hansen, Bestseller managing director, is allegedly taking over responsibilities for Bestseller in Ireland and the U.K.

Vince is changing up its Los Angeles-based design team as part of its latest business plans.

Caroline Belhumeur was appointed as SVP and creative director, while Marie Fogel was appointed as head of all merchandising and product development. Belhumeur joins Vince from Club Monaco, where she served as SVP of design and accessories. Fogel previously helmed Vince’s men’s and denim merchandising, planning and product development. Along with the appointments, former artistic director Katayone Adeli and SVP Julie Kwon have exited the company.


Timberland added three new executives to its roster this week.

Timberland hired footwear industry veteran Tracy Smith as its new VP and general manager of Timberland North America. In his new role, Smith will manage the operations and strategic vision of Timberland North America’s wholesale and direct to consumer businesses. Smith most recently served as Geox president of U.S. operations.

Federico Benzi was appointed as the CFO for Timberland North America. Benzi previously served as Timberland EMEA’s CFO. In his new role, Benzi will oversee finances for Timberland North America and support the company’s international growth efforts.

Former VF Sportswear VP of operations Chris Young was also tapped as Timberland’s new VP of operations.

Benzi and Young succeed Karen Smith and Eric Carlson, who were promoted into new corporate positions with VF.

Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli S.p.A. hired Paul Surridge as its new creative director, effective immediately. Surridge’s debut collection for Spring 2018 will be shown in Milan in September. He succeeds former creative director Peter Dundas, who exited the label last October.


Mark Weston was named as Dunhill’s new creative director. Weston joins Dunhill from Burberry, where he recently served as the label’s SVP of menswear. He will present his first collection at London Fashion Week: Men’s this June and succeeds former creative director John Ray, who left his post in January 2016.

Dick’s Sporting Goods

Dick’s Sporting Goods shifted its executive staff this week.

André Hawaux, Dick’s Sporting Goods COO and EVP, is retiring from his post and will remain with the company through the second quarter of the year.

Lauren Hobart was named as Dick’s Sporting Goods president. In her role, Hobart will helm the company’s customer and digital efforts, in addition to e-commerce and marketing initiatives. Hobart joined Dick’s Sporting Goods in 2011 and recently served as the company’s EVP, chief customer & digital officer.

Keri Jones was hired as Dick’s Sporting Good’s new EVP and chief merchant, effective May 22. In her new role, Jones will oversee the company’s merchandising and product development initiatives. Her resume includes previous stints at other retail companies, including Target.

House of Fraser

House of Fraser named Alex Williamson as its new CEO, effective July 31. Williamson joins House of Fraser from Goodwood Estate, where he served as the company’s CEO since 2012. Williamson has also held previous leadership roles at Ernst & Young and TUI Travel.


Spain-based fashion label Delpozo hired Pablo Badía as its general manager. Badía will also serve on the label’s executive board and oversee development initiatives. He joins Delpozo from Children Worldwide Fashion, where he served as the general director for Spain and Portugal and retail director for France. His predecessor, Carlos Trolez, will return to his previous role as the deputy finance director for Delpozo’s parent company, Grupo Perfumes y Diseño.


Indochino recently expanded its senior management team.

Former Guess Inc. executive Randy Binning was tapped as Indochino’s new VP of retail operations, while Dean Handspiker was promoted to VP of design – product and showroom development.


Mothercare CFO Richard Smothers is leaving his post to join another company. Smothers will remain with Mothercare until a successor is named.
