
Repetto
Repetto named Gilles Assor as its new CEO for the Americas. The fashion veteran joins Repetto from Robert Clergerie, where he served as VP for the Americas. In his new role, Assor will be responsible for multiplying the brand’s U.S. business, particularly within the athleisure and professional dance apparel segments. His resume includes previous stints at Jean Paul Gaultier, Maison Margiela and Marc Jacobs.
Costco
Costco elected Hamilton E. (Tony) James as the chairman of its board of directors. James currently serves as COO and president of The Blackstone Group L.P. and a board member of the company’s general partner, Blackstone Group Management L.L.C. He has also served as a director of Costco Wholesale since August 1988 and was the company’s lead independent director since 2005.
Carolina Herrera
Carolina Herrera announced two key leadership additions this week.
Lisa Arnold was hired as the label’s VP of retail. In her new role, Arnold will oversee all areas of Carolina Herrera New York’s international retail presence. Arnold joins the label with extensive luxury experience under her belt, most recently serving as Chanel’s East Coast retail division head for six years. She has also held other leadership positions at Dior and Ralph Lauren.
Thea Terenik was tapped as Carolina Herrera’s new VP of global merchandising. Terenik joins the label from Calvin Klein, where managed merchandising operations for men’s and women’s ready-to-wear at Calvin Klein collection. In her new role, Terenik will lead Carolina Herrera New York’s global brand initiatives and oversee product strategy. Her resume also includes previous stints at Alexander Wang and Barneys New York.
J.Jill
Womenswear company J.Jill named James S. Scully to its board of directors. Scully currently serves as EVP and chief operating officer of Avon Products, Inc. Before joining Avon, Scully served as the COO of J.Crew Group, Inc. and held other leadership roles at the company, including CFO and chief administrative officer. Scully has also held leadership roles at other major retailers, including Saks Incorporated.
Kering
Kering tapped Patrick Pruniaux as the new CEO of Swiss watchmaking house Ulysse Nardin, effective Aug. 28. Pruniaux joins Kering with extensive experience in the watchmaking industry, formerly holding leadership roles at Apple and TAG Heuer. In his new role, Pruniaux will accelerate the global expansion of the Swiss watchmaking house and build its presence in the luxury goods sector. He will succeed CEO Patrik P. Hoffmann, who is exiting the company to pursue other career opportunities.
Polygiene
Judd Salvas was appointed as Polygiene’s commercial operations director for North America. Salvas brings more than 10 years of outdoor industry experience, most recently serving as a sales representative for KNS Reps, where he fostered brand and retail relations for the company. In his new role, Salvas will grow Polygiene’s sales expansion in the U.S. market and foster the company’s positioning in odor control technology.
Topshop
Kate Phelan and Gordon Richardson, creative chiefs of Topshop and Topman, are stepping down from their roles. Phelan joined the company in 2011, while Richardson has been with Topman for more than a decade. Their replacement, David Hägglund, will serve as the sole creative director of both brands, starting on Sept. 4. As part of this transition, Phelan and Richardson will also continue to work for the company until 2018.
Former Burberry CMO Paul Price was also tapped to be the new CEO of Topshop and Topman. Topshop’s parent company, Arcadia Group, hired Price as part of its restructuring plan. With Price, the company aims to improve its performance and stay competitive among other fast-fashion players, like Asos and Zara.
Hudson’s Bay Company
HBC named Edward Record as its new CFO, effective Aug. 28. Record joins HBC from J.C. Penney, where he served as the company’s CFO for more than three years. During his tenure at J.C. Penney, Record oversaw the transformation of the company’s capital structure and helped reduce its debt leverage. His resume also includes previous stints at Belk, Kohl’s and Stage Stores.
J.C. Penney
J.C. Penney elected Wonya Lucas to its board of directors. Lucas currently serves as the CEO and president of Public Broadcasting Atlanta. Prior to Public Broadcasting Atlanta, Lucas served as the CEO and president of TV One, where she oversaw all daily operations and strategic decisions. She has also held leadership roles at other media outlets, including Discovery Communications and The Weather Channel.
