The global synthetic fiber price index, which tracks the weighted average price for acrylic, nylon, polyester and polypropylene filament yarns and staple fibers, fell in March compared to a year ago, its seventeenth straight month of decline.
Prices fell in Asia, Western Europe and the USA. In Asia, prices fell by an average of 4.5% compared to the same month last year. Asian prices remain 18% below the world average.
The European index fell by almost 8%, their steepest decline in five months. European synthetic prices are about 16% above the world average.
The US index fell by 1.1%, the first monthly decrease in four months, though remaining 44% above than the world average.
