U.S. buyers are no longer isolated from the U.K.’s diverse brand landscape.
Source British, a new trade show dedicated exclusively to British brands, will make its debut during the L.A. Fashion Market in the Penthouse at the California Market Center (CMC) on March 13 and 14. At the show, U.S. buyers will have the opportunity to network with top U.K.-based accessories, apparel and home décor companies.
“British design and craftsmanship have long been revered by US buyers,” CMC SVP of tradeshows & marketing SVP Joanne Lee said. “With Source British in Los Angeles, West Coast buyers are being offered the extraordinary opportunity to explore Britain’s top brands in one convenient LA Market trip.”
Source British recently conducted a survey with buyers from the California Market Centers LA Fashion Market database. Ninety-seven percent of respondents indicated that they would like to attend an event to source unique British brands. Many US buyers are seeking additional sourcing opportunities with other international markets, including Great Britain’s trendy consumer goods scene.
Four core areas will provide US buyers with the opportunity to meet British businesses. The fashion, footwear and accessories area will feature many brands, including Karen Gold and Wolfram Lohr. Home, gift and craft brands, including Paperboy London and Teddy Maximus will be included in the second major section of the show. Curated brands such as Orla Kiely and Something Wicked will be exhibited at The Trend Council pavilion. U.S. buyers may also visit the Trend Council demonstration area on both show days, where forecasting sessions will be held to outline must-have colors, key items and patterns for the upcoming season. On March 13 and 14, trend forecasting sessions will be held for Women’s wear (10 am on both days and 4 pm Monday), Young fashion (12:30 pm on both days) and Menswear (2:00 pm on both days).
Additional resources for U.S. buyers include event partner cross promotion, social media marketing and Source British’s event partner, The Department for International Trade, who will be at the show to assist with any questions related to doing business with an overseas brand, including currency conversion.
Founded in 2016 by Olivett Asare, Source British aims to connect British brands with other industry markets, including the West Coast. The show is backed by Upper Street Events Ltd., a leading U.K. events company that organizes 17 major innovative annual events and attracts over 400,000 visitors each year. With Source British, U.K.-based brands and U.S. buyers will have the opportunity to meet and work together to foster the global retail sector.
