Web Industries, Inc., a leading provider of contracting converting and manufacturing services, launched an expanded range of converting options to produce jumbo rolls, allowing the company to offer true “Big Roll Converting” to the consumer products market.
The new converting capacity produces rolls of up to 60” outside diameter (OD) by 80” width. The rolls can contain up to 57 percent more material than currently existing rolls. This increase in material volume can give significant manufacturing advantages to the primary producers of adult incontinence, feminine hygiene, baby care and home care products.
Web’s capacity to handle the incoming jumbo rolls will allow CPG companies to order parent materials on larger rolls, resulting in a reduction in supply chain costs. The overall efficiency is also enhanced since jumbo rolls of nonwovens and films will allow longer manufacturing times with fewer changeovers.
The company added in a statement, “These advantages, combined with Web’s other advanced converting and material management services, support consumer product companies looking to bring innovative new products into the marketplace faster or looking to extend the profitable lifespan of existing products by driving down production costs.”
Web’s Fort Wayne facility, already accommodating some of the world’s largest nonwoven and film converting equipment, is home to the new capabilities. The combination of wide-width printing and large OD converting assets eliminates unnecessary manufacturing steps while reducing overall costs. It gives consumer product companies the option of having their component materials printed, slit and spooled onto the jumbo rolls all under one roof.
James Oas, director of operations for the consumer products market, said, “The ability to handle 60? OD rolls is an exciting addition to our existing large-format, high-speed slitting, spooling, and printing portfolio, and it offers our customers the opportunity to increase their operational efficiencies.” He added, “A 60? roll contains 57% more material in area than a 48? roll, and this difference can have a huge positive impact on a client’s downstream manufacturing throughput.”
Web Industries Inc. is the world’s largest and most diverse provider of slitting, spooling and specialized traverse widening services with over four decades of experience in nonwovens, films, papers, foils, custom laminates and foams, and specialties in developing optimized flexible material processing solutions in-house.
