C. Wonder, Chris Burch’s flubbed monogrammed home goods and apparel brand may have life yet—Xcel Brands has entered into an agreement to acquire it.

The fashion apparel and gift chain shuttered all of its stores in January and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in such a flurry that laid off employees sued the retailer for failing to give them at least a 60-day heads up that they’d be out of work.

Now, the brand development and media company that owns the Isaac Mizrahi, Judith Ripka, H by Halston and H Halston brands and designs and manages Liz Claiborne New York, wants to pick up what’s left of C. Wonder—its trademarks, related designs and other intellectual property rights.

The closing of the acquisition is subject to board approval and Xcel said it wouldn’t provide any further details or its plans for the C. Wonder brand until the transaction is completed.
