Apparel, retailer and home textile industry professionals can now access the latest information regarding restricted chemicals.
The American Apparel and Footwear Association has issued the 18th edition of its Restricted Substances List (RSL), which includes additions and changes to the regulations covering chemicals in apparel, footwear and finished home textiles around the world.
“The RSL is the go-to resource for apparel and footwear professionals tasked with tracking restricted and banned substances,” said Rick Helfenbein, president and CEO of the AAFA. “As national and international regulations are continuously evolving, it can be difficult to keep track of the latest regulations. That is why AAFA does the heavy lifting for the entire industry with this report, to ensure that the products being sold in stores are safe for consumers.”
The RSL, which is updated every six months, covers 12 categories with more than 250 chemicals. For each substance, the RSL identifies the CAS number, common chemical or color name, as well as information on the restriction or limit on final products or tested components.
