Leading quality solutions provider Intertek has launched the industry’s first ever mobile textile testing lab called Indati.
Intertek developed Indati, which it is calling “The Lab on Wheels” to help manufacturers meet consumers’ constant demand for high-quality apparel products while also proving the convenience of on-site testing.
Indati was launched Wednesday at Akruti Corporate Park, Kanjurmarg (West), Mumbai.
Rajesh Saigal, Intertek’s regional managing director for South Asia, said of the launch, “India’s apparel industry is a major contributor to the country’s economy demonstrating consistent growth over the last decade. Intertek is dedicated to support the increasing demand for textile testing in India. The Lab on Wheels is a unique concept that will help support Indian retailers to realize testing cost efficiencies and also provide access to quality testing of their products at their doorstep. The home delivered support will help of manufacturers improve competencies and also enhance acceptability with global brands.”
The new lab will serve retailers, brands and manufacturers of adult apparel, children’s apparel, fashion accessories and household textiles to ensure that their products meet safety, regulatory, quality and performance standards, according to Indati.
Manish Kumar, Intertek’s regional director for Softlines and country manager for Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Madagascar, added, “Intertek is a major player in this segment and has been operating since 1996. Mumbai being one of the major hubs for textile, the flexible testing Mobile van would facilitate companies to get the basic testing of their products done conveniently. This initiative shall go a long way in putting India in the global map as a force to reckon with.”
