Jeans Factory Catches Fire in Bangladesh

A fire broke out at a denim factory in the Hazaribagh area of Dhaka, Bangladesh today.

According to reports, the fire may have originated at Karim Leather & Washing plant and spread to neighboring Jeans Treat Ltd. No injuries or deaths have been reported but, in terms of damage, Jamal Uddin, managing director of the denim factory, claimed 35,000 pairs of jeans were destroyed, as reported in Bangladesh’s The Daily Star.

It took four firefighting units to douse the blaze, which happened around 2:35 p.m. in Bangladesh or 3:35 a.m. ET. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The total estimated loss and damage has not been reported yet.
