Adidas Launches Photo Print App for Sneaker Customization

Adidas is taking photo sharing to a new wearable level. On Tuesday, the German athletic label launched its mi ZX FLUX mobile app in the U.S. Through the app, consumers can take an image from their smartphone, manipulate the photo to fit a shoe template and have it printed on an actual pair of sneakers.

Customized kicks are not a new novelty in the sneaker world. Converse, New Balance and Nike are just some of the brands that offer customizable options spanning colorways, materials and embroideries, however, personalized photo printing is an industry first.

Currently, Adidas’ ZX Flux sneaker is the only style available for photo customization. The men’s and women’s shoe retails for $110 and orders take between four to six weeks to complete. The app, which has been available to European consumers since August, is compatible with iOS and Android devices.
