Under Armour Unveils New Collection from US Innovation Hub

Innovation and high-tech performance fabrics come together for Under Armour’s latest lineup.

The U.S. retailer introduced UA Arris 2.0, a new womenswear collection hailing from UA Lighthouse, its Baltimore-based innovation and manufacturing hub. The collection, which is set to debut in stores and online Friday, combines functionality and style so women can excel physically without worrying about their workout wardrobes.

Similar to Under Armour’s first Arris Capsule collection, the 2.0 line includes a bra and legging set with a new fit. Arris 2.0 garments take on a tight-fitting form without Spandex, provide great recovery and contain water-repellent fabric. Other features include adjusted seam lines for ultimate comfort and a new bonded waistband that supports the body throughout exercise activity.

Unlike the standard design, prototyping and production process, which typically takes 18 months to complete, the Arris 2.0 line was finished in just four months. Due to the proximity of developers and engineers at the UA Lighthouse, Under Armour was able to speed up the process, construct the garments in-house and develop prototypes more quickly. Women’s legging production typically takes more than 30 steps for waistband production. UA Ligthhouse’s team expedited this time with advanced design and less than 20 steps for each legging.

The Arris 2.0 collection follows the release of the Arris Capsule collection, which launched in stores and online in January. Crafted and designed at the UA Lighthouse, the line was Under Armour’s first-ever made in U.S. apparel collection. Arris Capsule garments included the UA Arris Bra and UA Arris Leggings that highlighted the female form with precision fit, advanced compression and strategic mesh paneling. Both garments delivered on the need for improved women’s activewear with their high-tech materials and supportive structures.
