The retailer and CFDA are co-launching a limited-edition menswear capsule collection with designer Greg Lauren. Starting Dec. 6, The Greg Lauren for Banana Republic line will be available at select Banana Republic stores.
In Spring 2016, Banana Republic and CFDA established their first collaboration and co-debuted a women’s capsule collection with New York-based designer trio Timo Weiland. For their second partnership, Banana Republic and CFDA joined forces with Greg Lauren to bring consumers a new menswear collection that is designed and manufactured domestically in Los Angeles. Bringing together Banana Republic’s classic American appeal and Lauren’s utilitarian style, the capsule collection will feature 16 apparel pieces.
“Banana Republic is an iconic American retailer and I’m excited to be collaborating with them as I continue to expand my business,” Lauren said. “This collaboration is helping me explore new ways to extend my production capacity and test new ways of working while still maintaining a very hands-on approach to my craft.”
Essential wardrobe pieces are the focus of The Greg Lauren for Banana Republic collection. The line features cozy garments including knit and wool lounge pants, a cotton sweatshirt, henley long-sleeve shirts, a relaxed flight jacket, mixed media jackets, a luxe cashmere top coat and a causal tuxedo jacket, pant and shirt. The collection’s clothing is composed of base fabrics, including cotton twill and is priced between $178 and $3,000.
“Our partnership with Banana Republic has allowed two designers the opportunity to grow and expand their consumer and production capacities in ways that otherwise may not have been possible,” CFDA President and CEO Steven Kolb said. “We are happy to be able to work with an iconic American brand like Banana Republic and look forward to debuting the Greg Lauren for Banana Republic collection this holiday.”
