Jacquard denims, which hit textile trade shows last year, remain strong for premium womenswear markets and are evolving with three-dimensional surfaces for S/S 15. This season’s Kingpins New York and Denim by Première Vision featured raised or textured animal-skin, tribal-geometric and Baroque-floral jacquards in classic indigo and white combinations.
Indigo mills are even using jacquard machines to replicate and elevate on-trend camouflage and Hawaiian patterns. While the denim jacquard trend appeals to brands looking to make fabric statements, raised denim textures also work for more classic applications. Denim herringbone, sartorial check, seersucker and quilted constructions serve as alternatives to classic twills.
